Scholarship Background

The Albemarle County Sheriff’s Office Foundation (ACSOF) awards one $500 scholarship each academic year to a student who will be attending a college or vocational school with a focus on law enforcement. Albemarle County high school students and homeschool seniors are encouraged to apply for this scholarship.


Application Requirements:

  • Must be a 2024 graduating senior of an Albemarle County private, public, or home based school.

  • 2.5 GPA minimum requirement

  • Must have demonstrated community service by participating in extracurricular activities in both the school and the community

  • Submit a double-spaced essay addressing why you want to pursue a career in law enforcement. (250 minimum) Essay must demonstrate good sentence structure with correct grammar and spelling.

  • High school transcripts

  • At least two letters of recommendation from non-related members of the community. These can be teachers, employers, coaches, or community leaders.

Please submit the required documentation to ACSOF at posse@albemarlesheriffsfoundation.org or by mail to Albemarle County Sheriff’s Office Foundation, 3315 Berkmar Drive, STE 2C, Charlottesville VA 22901 by DECEMBER 30, 2023. Scholarship decision will be made by 30 April 2024 and presented at the Senior Awards night of the recipient or by mail for homeschool students.
